Why use Dog Listening ?

After all there are so many training methods, what makes Dog Listening better ? There are clickers, harnesses, electric collars, spray collars, choke chains, chains with spikes that stick in the dogs neck and many more so called 'quick fix' gadgets. Alongside all these pieces of equipment are the different ways of training, there is the traditional 'make him do it' method, and then there is the 'endless repetition until the dog is bored senseless' method, in fact some methods we consider barbaric, they don't train the dog, they traumatise it. Do these systems work ? Yes, to a greater or lesser degree on some dogs, but not all. One thing though is common to all these methods, they are all unnatural

Dogs are descended from wolves and are pack animals. Wolf packs are well organised with a hierarchy that all members understand where every pack member has an important job to do for the survival of the pack, they don't need training aids or gadgets, so why do we ? It became apparent to us that to achieve a close bond with the dogs we would have to become the pack leaders.

We then became aware of 'Dog listening' where this subject has been studied in great depth and a structured system has been devised using the dogs own language. We were fortunate to be able to travel to Lincolnshire to train in the method and complete both the Foundation and Advanced Canine Communication Courses.

Dog Listening is not a 'training method' in the normal sense of the word but a holistic, natural, stress free way of communicating with your dog. If used consistently your dog will elect you as leader of his own free will making any subsequent training a pleasure. The use of Dog Listening is particularly effective in dealing with behavioural problems such as Aggression, Nervousness, Obsessive or Destructive Behaviour, Pulling on the Lead, Jumping up and Persistant Barking.

We use this method BECAUSE IT WORKS, we have seen many other methods and have approached them all with an open mind but nothing comes close to Dog Listening for consistent success.

So if you decide to use Pure Dog Listening what do you get for your money ?

You will be quoted a one off price at the time of your enquiry, if outside Leicestershire there will be a mileage charge to cover fuel and travelling time that will be included in the quote. There will be no other charges even if there is more than one dog. One of us will attend your house to see you and your dog(s) on their home territory so they are not stressed. Ideally all other family members that interact with your dog should be present. We will assess the dog and then teach you a clear and stress free system to get your dog to moderate his behaviour of his own free will. Before leaving we will give you a crib sheet of reminders of the main points of the system and on our return home will prepare an action plan specific to you and your dog and send it to you.The consultation will normally take between two and four hours and should you have any problems or are just a little unsure of something after the consultation, you can contact us at anytime for the lifetime of the dog.
